Annalong is a picturesque fishing village situated in the heart of the ‘Kingdom of Mourne’. With stunning coastal and mountainous scenery, it offers itself as an idyllic and peaceful haven to engage with the diverse beauty of the Northern Ireland countryside.
With humble beginnings based on fishing, farming and quarrying, the harbour was historically the heart of the community. From here vast quantities of locally quarried granite was shipped to destinations throughout the UK and Ireland. The fishing industry grew with the village with the harbour once supporting many commercial and leisure based fishing vessels.
Today the life of the village has moved towards tourism and leisure, yachts pass through the harbour gates as they sail along the south down coastline. Tourists can relax and enjoy all that a vibrant fishing village has to offer, where locals still tell tales from bygone years of time spent fishing and farming the land.
